Nile Breweries Limited has donated fuel 1500 liters to Mbarara Covid-19 Task Forces amid the Covid-19 pandemic situation that has posed both health and economic challenges to the country.
Mbarara city has registered 934 cumulative cases with 90 cumulative deaths since the second wave of the pandemic. Compared the National 73401 cases and 714 deaths.
The Mbarara City Deputy DISO, Nicolas Tumwesigye who represented the Resident city commissioner to receive the donation will ease the transportation of the Covid Task Force teams, distribution of vaccines, contact tracing, and other related activities.
Tumwesigye says they are sometimes held back and challenged having several security operations that need so much mobility of the forces on the ground to implement the presidential directives, and enforcement of the curfew due to lack of fuel.
Tumwesigye attributed the many operations to the nature of people, noting that much as Covid has reached up to the communities some people still take it as a joke.
Adams Wilson Emaru, the environment and safety Manager of Mbarara Plant said the provision of 1500 litres of fuel is to facilitate the city task force in terms of fighting covid-19.
He said that the health workers and the task force need to be facilitated to be able to reach out to every alert that is put out there so that these other alerts do not turn out to be rest in peace stories
David Valencia director of Nile Breweries Limited said times such as these call for individuals, communities, public and private sectors to rally together in efforts to fight the fast-spreading disease and support each other which shows the strength in the community.
Samson Kasasira, Rwizi region Police spokesperson commended the donation and said the fuel will supplement the efforts in combating the pandemic.
Nile Breweries company has also donated fuel 1500 liters each worth Shs19M to Jinja Covid-19 Task forces, KCCA COVID-19 taskforce and Buikwe COVID-19 Taskforces.
