The Armed Forces of the Democratic Republic of the Congo-FARDC have dislodged the Allied Democratic Forces- ADF rebels from four localities, namely: Manzobe, Idohu, Machongani and Ofai, in the south of Irumu territory (Ituri), Democratic Republic of Congo.

The recovery came after intense fighting as part of the military operations launched since Monday in the territorial entity. The spokesman for the FARDC in Ituri, Lieutenant Jules Ngongo, said on Tuesday that five rebels were neutralized during the clashes that continue in the area and two others died on the side of the army.

The ADF armed group attempted to make an incursion on Monday evening in the village of Manzobe, where they set a few houses on fire. These rebels came up against the firepower of loyalist forces whose positions were reinforced after the last attack on Sunday in the area.

The Convention for the Respect of Human Rights (La Convention pour le respect des droits de l’homme) (CRDH) a Human Rights Non-Government Organization claims that the army has pushed back these armed men who had settled in four villages: Manzobe, Idohu, Machongani and Ofai, in the chiefdom of Walesse Vonkutu. All these entities have already come under the control of the FARDC.

For now, fighting continues in the forest between the two parties. The inhabitants, who remained in the area after the first attack, are emptying the environment which, according to them, has become the target of attacks by these ADF rebels.
