Rukungiri man arrested over death of village chairperson

Police in Rukungiri district are holding a 29-year-old man in connection with the death of the chairperson of Kyaruhotora village,Burora parish Nyarushanje Subcounty Rukungiri District.

It’s alleged that the on 23rd July 2021 at around 5pm, the deceased left his home to Kabihi trading center to enforce the presidential directives on COVI-D 19.

According to Elly Maate the Kigezi region police spokesperson, her first wife Jackline Beinomugisha   (35) waited for him but all was in vain.

Maate adds that she thought the deceased had gone to sleep at the second wife’s home of the same address

Maate says it was on saturday morning around 7am when she received shocking information that there was a dead body lying on the way to her home where she rushed and confirmed that it was her husband.

Police was notified by the area LCII Chairman Mwijuka Fred 54yrs, scene was visited and the police got t information that Tumanye Kennedy a resident Kyaruhotora village Burora Parish Nyarushanje subcounty Rukungiri district  also a nephew to the deceased had a long term conflicts which had even been reported to the police.

 Maate says he was arrested and on checking at the suspect’s home, police were able to find clothes containing blood stains. Postmortem was done and later the body handed over to relatives for burial.

A case of murder by cutting has been registered at Rukungiri central police under the reference NO CRB 1152/2021
