The Stae Minister Of Finace (general duties) Henry Musasizi Ariganyira has commended the work done by the Bank of Uganda to support infrastructural Development at Hamurwa Health Centre IV in Rubanda District.

Musasizi who is also the Rubanda East Member of Parliament was addressing the Press after inspection of a Ugx Shs. 330 million construction project in which the B.O.U intends to extend the maternity ward and re-innovate the post-operation ward at Hamurwa Health Centre IV.

The Project initially budgeted at 200 million for only expansion of the maternity ward was later expanded to 330 million after the B.O.U found out that the health facility lacked a walkway to shelter transfer of expectant mothers from the maternity ward to the theater. Also, embedded in the project later, was the re-innovation of the Post operation ward which had cracks in the walls and the floor, according to the authorities at the facility.

The Construction which started last year is expected to be completed and handed over to the authorities in September 2021.

In his Speech, Musasizi revealed that he lobbied for the project for Hamurwa HC. IV while he was still the Chairperson Finance Committee, and he encouraged the Officer in charge of the health facility to prepare another write-up listing down all other financial challenges affecting the health facility.

Musasizi also asked Rubanda District Local Government to utilize his position in the Ministry by forwarding to him all the unfunded priorities that need urgent attention from the government.

According to the District Health Officer (DHO) Dr. Abdon Birungi, the District contracted Redstone Holdings and Geses Uganda to work on the construction project. He explained that the District had also contributed funds for external re-innovation works on the post operation ward.

The Director Redstone Holdings Limited Mr. Alpha Aine explained that Construction of the walk way was complete and the only remaining part was the floor, while the maternity ward extension was also nearing compeletion. He said the Post operation ward re-innovation was finished, and that they would also plant grass in the compound which is part of their contract.

The Board Secretary for Bank of Uganda Ms. Susan Kanyemibwa who represented Governor Tumusiime Emmanuel Mutebire said the 200 million Shillings donation was part of their social cooperate responsibility extended to all districts with BOU Branches, in celebration of 50 years of service.

However, Susan confirmed that Hamurwa HC IV was exceptionally considered at the request of Hon. Musasizi was their supervisor in his office as the Chairperson Finance Committee of Parliament.

Hamurwa Health Centre IV is the only referral for all the 13 Health centres in Rubana East, while the other bigger facility is Muko Health Centre IV in Rubanda West Constituency.

Despite the fact that every month over 100 women deliver from the Health Centre, the Maternity Ward was too small to accommodate more than 30 expectant mothers. Apart from the limited space, Hamurwa Health Centre does not have an Ultra Sound Scan and a Blood Bank refrigerator.
