Kabale registers increase in COVID-19 cases

Kabale district has registered 1680 cumulative number of covid-19 cases since the resurgence in May 2021 according to Alfred Besigensi, the acting district health officer.

He revealed that on 23rd August 76 people were tested and 14 were positive, On the 24th   yesterday 68 samples were tested and 12 were positive which indicates that covid19 cases are increasing compared to previous days.

Besigensi was today speaking during Kabale district covid19 task force meeting held at kabale district headquarters Kabale Municipality

Besigensi adds that as of now Kabale district has 41 numbers of Covid19 cases in home based care, and 33 numbers of active cases in hospitals. He said 1250 cases have managed from home based care, 1184 have been recovered from home based care.

He adds that since 19th cases have been moving up where by 13 patients are currently on oxygen.

Besigensi attributed the increase of cases due to reluctance of the people in observing Covid-19 guidelines thus cases increasing.

Besigensi emphasized the need for people to come on drawing board and ensure that they observe standard operating procedures to fight coviD-19.

Dr Christopher Wagobera a medical officer at Kabale Regional Referral Hospital, suspects that they might be a surge soon without a break not like the first surge.

He said that many patients coming at the hospital are coming from home based care treatment and are always very sick.
