One person died on Sunday after the canoe he was traveling in capsized and he drowned.
The deceased has been identified as Onesmus Twinamatsiko (23)a resident of Katoma cell in Mwendo Parish mKitumba sub county.
Kigezi Regional police spokesperson Elly Maate told apearlnews.com that the deceased drowned on Sunday evening as he headed to Katoma landing site on his way from Bufuka village across the lake.
Maate adds that preliminary investigations indicate that the deceased was alone and had no protective gear on him.
He further revealed that his body was retrieved today mid-morning and inquiries are underway to establish the cause of the accident.
