Police in Mbarara city are investigating circumstances under which an police officer was attacked and killed by yet to be known assailants.
The deceased has been identified as Richard Agaba who was the officer in charge of Ruharo police post.
The deceased was according to Samson Kasasira the Rwizi regional police spokesperson attacked by machete-wielding people who were also armed with guns.
The officer was reportedly shot at and left uncouncious
Agaba was later rushed to Mbarara regional refferal hospital where he was pronounced dead on arrival.
Kasasira says that the investigations are still underway.
