One Killed as Robbers raid Rukungiri electronics shop

Armed robbers on Tuesday raided for God electronics shop along Rubabo road in Rukungiri town taking off with over 50 million shillings and mobile phones valued at 28 million shillings.

The robbers who were three in number attacked the shop in the evening hours and first shot an unarmed security guard attached to the Saracen security company identified as Daniel Dokuze before gaining access to the shop.

 According to Kigezi regional police spokesperson Elly Maate, the raided shop belongs to Monica Kinkuhiire (35).

Maate adds that the robber also shot and killed a 19-year-old man identified as Edward Tayebwa as they were running away.

The deceased is a resident of Bunura Cell, Rwakabengo Ward, Southern Division.

He further revealed that police moved in swiftly and managed to arrest Dominic Twinomugisha (19) a resident of Mbarara city and also recovered one SMG riffle no UGPOL 56582399632575 with 10 rounds of ammunition.

The police are also hunting for two other suspects who escaped as investigations into the matter continue.

The injured security guard is receiving treatment at Nyakibale hospital.
