Kabale man held for defilement

Police in Kabale is holding an 18-year-old man in detention who is alleged to have defiled an 8-year-old girl.

The suspect according to Elly Maate eKigezi region Police station is Reuben Mubangizi a resident of Kasenyi village Kicumbi parish Kamuganguzi sub county Kabale district.

Maate says that it’s alleged that yesterday at around 6 pm while the victim with another girl younger than her were collecting firewood in Kashenyi village, they met the suspect whom they claimed was drunk and instructed them to back and show him where they had collected firewood from because it’s his land.

He adds that it is from there that picked the older girl and defiled her, after which threatened to deal with her if she dared to reveal.

When she reached home, informed the parents who in turn notified the area chairman Kashenyi village Mr. Gerevazi who put effort and the suspect was arrested this morning and handed over to Kabale Central Police Station.

Maate further reveals that Inquiries are ongoing and upon completion will be arraigned before courts of law to answer charges of aggravated defilement.

The case of aggravated defilement has been registered under reference number KABALE CRB 898/2021.
