Rukiga raises sh. 92.9M to inject in Kabale Diocese BAAF project

A total of 92.9 million shillings have today been collected both in cash and pledges, during the fundraising function of this year’s Bishop’s Annual Appeal Fund (BAAF) in Rukiga district, towards the construction of a commercial building in Rukungiri district.

39.4 million shillings were collected in cash, while 53.5 million shillings were pledges. During the function that was held at St Luke Catholic parish in Muhanga town council, Rukiga district, the Bishop of Kabale Diocese, Rt Rev Callistus Rubaramira said that the Bishop’s Annual Appeal Fund is an annual activity of raising funds for supporting Diocesan projects, and this year’s BAAF aimed at construction a commercial building in Rukungiri district at a tune of 2.5 billion shillings that will be rented by Centenary Rukungiri branch.

Bishop Rubaramira commended the Christians for the contributions but further encouraged them to double the courage of supporting the church projects from the donors whom they used to depend on, from abroad halted after the outbreak of the Covid-19 pandemic. He added that the fundraising which started yesterday in Rukungiri district that raised a total of 235 million shillings, shall rotate in all districts under Kabale Diocese.

Speaking as the Chief Guest of Honor, the Rukiga County Member of Parliament Rolland Ndyomugyenyi Bish who contributed a total of 23 million shillings including contributions from friends and the Rukiga District Police Commander Ismat Patrick Alberto asked the public to be vigilant about the suspected terrorists within the Country, following the explosive incident that happened last night by suspected terrorists in Digida pork joint in Komamboga.

The function was attended by the Rubanda West MP Mosese Kamuntu Mwongyera who contributed over 5 million shillings, the businessman Apollo Nyegamehe who contributed 10 million, the RDC Rukiga pulkeria Muhindo, and among others.
