Kabale district gets new vehicles

Kabale District Receives New Vehicle to help in Covid-19 Surveillance
The Kabale district chief administrative officer, Edmond Ntimba, has
today handed over to the acting district Health Officer, a new double
Cabin Pick up Reg No.UG 696M for Covid-19 surveillance.


The vehicle was part of the fleet of 282 pickups that the government
procured at a tune of 24 billion shillings, part of the Covid-19
relief funds that well-wishing Ugandans contributed to the government
during the first lockdown, in the fight against Covid-19.


While handing over the vehicles to district leaders at Kololo
ceremonial grounds, on 22nd October 2021, President Yoweri Kaguta
Museveni urged district authorities to put the vehicles into the right
use not to abuse the contributors’ generosity and sacrifice. He said
vehicles were purposed for reaching out to the population, in the
fight against the Covid-19 virus.


handing over the vehicle yesterday, to the acting district heath
officer, Afred Besigensi, the Kabale district Chief Administrative
officer, Edmond Ntimba, who received the vehicle, retaliated the
President’s call that the vehicles are for Covid-19 surveillance and
other health-related issues. He said that Kabale district received
three vehicles, one which was given to the office of the district Health
officer, another attached to Kabale regional referral hospital and the
third, that was given to Kabale municipality.


Speaking at the handover of the vehicle, the Kabale district LCV
Chairperson, Nelson Nshangabasheijja, commended the President for,
re-energizing their efforts in the fight the Covid-19 virus. He added
that despite a general decline in the number of new Covid-19 infections,
Kabale district is still registering a high number of infections
especially in sub-counties that border with Rwanda.


According to the statistics from the office of the district health
officer, 12 new cases were confirmed from tests done on 27th Oct 2021,
bringing the cumulative number of cases since March 2020, to 2,893.
The cumulative number of deaths in the district stands at 119.
