Ntungamo RDC roots for value for money

By Anthony Kushaba

Ntungamo resident district commissioner David Kaboyo has called on leaders and technocrats in the area to ensure that they focus on ensuring value for money while implementing government programs.

Kaboyo revealed that while the government has allocated a lot of money to various projects, it has turned out to be a practice by duty bearers to look on as corruption prevails.

Kabayo was on Thursday speaking at the district budget conference held at Ntungamo district headquarters in Ntungamo town.

Speaking at the same meeting, Ntungamo district chairperson Sam Muchunguzi revealed that the district is focusing on ensuring effective service delivery and involving the people at lower levels of leaders and communities to ensure that they own government projects.

Muchunguzi added that the district is pushing for improved household income through increased production as well as value addition.

He revealed that the farmers in the district have always been making heavy post-harvest losses because most of the products such as bananas easily go bad.

Ntungamo woman member of parliament Baata Kamateneti called on the political leaders in the area to unite and put political differences aside and concentrate on development.

She revealed that with unity, development can be realized while disagreements retard development and allow confusion to take charge.

John Wycliff Karazarwe the former Ntungamo district chairperson revealed that the leaders must work closely with technocrats if they are to be successful.

Karazarwe revealed that fights between the two parties result in inefficiency and cripple development.
