Six confirmed dead,33 injured in Kampala explosions

Police have confirmed that six people have died while scores have been injured after two explosions rocked Kampala city early today.

 The explosions went off following one another targeting Jubilee building along parliamentary avenue and Buganda road near central police station.

Police spokesperson Fred Enanga says that preliminary investigations indicate that three of the dead were suicide bombers.

Enanga says that the police cameras caught a man dressed in black with a backpack and was responsible for detonating the bomb.

 He says that the explosion covered a radius of 30 meters and also affected the counter of the central police station building.

 The second explosion went off near Jubilee building along Parliamentary avenue.

The two suicide bombers reportedly arrived riding   riding on motorcycles disguised as boda bodas before the explosion went off.

A total of 33 people have been rushed to hospital after being injured by the blasts and that five of these are in critical condition.

Enanga further revealed that the joint security team gave a chase to one of the suicide bombers who was arrested from Bwaise and a search at his home in Nansana, Katooke, a suicide vest was recovered.

He called on the locals to be very vigilant in the wake of the terror attacks.
