Rubanda Catholic Church: 202.9M raised to support Kabale Diocese BAAF

 A total of 202.9 million shillings was yesterday collected both in cash and pledges, during the fundraising function of this year’s Bishop’s Annual Appeal Fund (BAAF) under the Kabale Diocese in the Rubanda district.

187.4 million shillings were collected in cash, while 15.5 million shillings were pledges.

During the function that was held at Rubanda Catholic Parish in Ikumba Subcounty, the Bishop of Kabale Diocese, Rt Rev Callistus Rubaramira said that the Bishop’s Annual Appeal Fund is an annual activity of raising funds for supporting Diocesan projects, and this year’s BAAF is aimed at construction a commercial building in Rukungiri district at a tune of 2.5 billion shillings that will be rented by Centenary Rukungiri branch.

Speaking as the Chief Guest of Honor, the Rubanda East  Member of Parliament Henry Ariganyira Musasizi who is also the Minister of General Duties in the Ministry of Finance, commended the Kabale Diocese for Raising several projects of development including Centenary Bank which is the largest Commercial Bank that was started in the country by Ugandans.

Hon. Musasizi contributed 20 million towards this year’s BAAF. Through him, the Deputy Speaker of Parliament Rt. Hon. Anita Among contributed another 20 million. Musasizi also bought portraits of Pope Francis and President Museveni at 5 million each, bringing the total of his contribution to 50 million.

Rukiga County Mp Hon. Nyomugyenyi Bish Roland contributed 5 million, Rubanda Woman Mp Prossy Akampurira Contributed 10 million, while Rubanda West Mp Moses Kamuntu Contributed 15 million.

The Next BAAF Fundraising for Kabale District will be held at Rushoroza Cathedral on 4th Jan. 2022.

ABOUT BAAF

The Bishop’s Annual Appeal Fund (BAAF) was introduced by Bishop Callistus Rubaramira in 2008 and the mission is to raise funds for the bishop’s efforts to develop programs of the Diocese which includes missionary work of preaching the good news and reaching out to the poorest.

BAAF funds have done great work in Kabale Diocese which includes: construction of commercial building hosting Centenary Bank in Kabale town, construction of Kisoro commercial building hosting Centenary Bank, construction of Diocesan Jubilee House at Rushoroza, construction of Radio Maria office at Rushoroza, boosting shares in Centenary bank and construction of a commercial building in Rukungiri under construction which will host Centenary bank after its completion. BAAF’s contribution has kept Kabale Diocese ahead supplemented by many projects at Rushoroza and in various parishes.

This year BAAF fundraising began in Rukungiri at Nyakibale on 23rd October 2021 and Rt Hon Robinah Nabanja, the Prime Minister of Uganda was the chief guest. The fundraising raised 233, 721,100 in cash and pledges which set a good starting foundation.

Amidst covid19 pandemic economic challenges, Christians heeded the Bishop’s call and supported him. BAAF fundraising after Rukungiri has been going on in Rukiga, Kanuungu, and Kisoro where Christians have embraced it and contributed generously.

Kigezi Kampala Catholic Residents Association (KKCRA) on 20th to 21st November they hosted the Bishop for BAAF fundraising and held their monthly service

The climax event of BAAF activities will be held on 4th January 2022 at Rushoroza where top government officials especially Christians are expected to grace the ceremony
