Kabale district approves 282.51 million supplementary budget

Kabale district council on Thursday approved two supplementary
budgets, worth 282.51 million shillings for the financial year
2021/2022, to cater for the accelerated Covid-19 mass vaccination and
the house to house polio vaccination campaign for children below 5
years respectively.

The motions to approve the two supplementary budgets were presented
before the council that was held in the district council hall by the
secretary for finance, administration, planning, works and technical
services committee, Bridget Asinga Tumwesigye, and seconded by the
Buhara Sub County female councilor, Annet Kabagambe.

Asinga said that the 204,204,000 million shillings is to help the
health department to implement the Accelerated Covid-19 vaccination
campaign like supporting vaccination teams, planning, coordination,
monitoring and evaluation, as well as building capacity of health
workers. The district targets to vaccinate over 120,000 people and has
so far vaccinated over 90,000 people.


Asinga added that 78,311,100 million shillings will be allocated to
maintain the cold chain, deliver vaccines and ice pads and ensure vaccine
accountability during the house to house mass vaccination of children
below the age of five years against polio that is slated to commence
early next month.
The Kabale district speaker, Flavia Nyinakiza Kanagizi, implored the
health department to ensure accountability and proper use of the fund.
