There is a need to be dynamic and adapt to the fast-changing Communication if effective and timely Communication for Government is to be realized.

This is according to the Permanent Secretary for Ministry of ICT and National Guidance, Dr. Aminah Zaweddde.

Dr. Zawedde made the remarks Wednesday while officially opening a two-day retreat for Officers in charge of the Communication and Information Dissemination function, in Ministries and Departments, at the Uganda Institute of Information and Communications Technology in Nakawa division, Kampala.

Dr. Zawedde observed that there are traditional means of Communication like radios, televisions, and newspapers, but other forms like social media have to be adopted in order to cater to the youths and other categories of people that use these platforms as their sources of information.

The retreat is a capacity-building training aiming at strengthening the communication function among Government Communication Officers.

The Permanent Secretary observed that it is through such platforms and consistent messaging that the taxpayers will understand what their money is being used for.

In the same training, the Undersecretary for the Ministry of ICT and National Guidance Julius Nkeramihigo challenged Government Communication Officers to continuously read in order to remain intellectually upright.
