MP Ndamira elected the new Kabale district roads committee chairperson

The Kabale District Woman Member of Parliament, Catherine Ndamira Atwakiire, has been elected the new Kabale district Roads committee chairperson, replacing the Ndorwa East member of Parliament, also the Shadow Attorney General, Wilfred Niwagaba.

According to the Kabale district LC5 Chairperson, Nelson Nshangabasheija, the elections were held yesterday in the office of the state minister for Industry at the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Cooperatives, also the Ndorwa West county Mp, David Bahati, at Farmers House in Kampala. He said that the selection was carefully thought after because of Atwakiire’s experience in Parliament and how she has previously lobbied for the district.

The 11-member committee comprises of all Members of Parliament from the district, the district Chairperson and the Kabale Municipal Mayor and two engineers one, from the district and the other from the Municipality.

The others are the district Chief Administrative officer, the Municipal Town clerk, and the district secretary for finance, works, and technical services.

Atwakiire, who is serving her second term in Parliament was elected unopposed. Speaking after her election, Atwakiire pledged to work with other leaders in the district to make sure that all the roads in the district are in good condition. She promised to use the fact that she seats on the Budget and infrastructure committees of Parliament to lobby and ensure that conditions of all roads in the district are improved.
