Police in Rukiga district is having one of their own in detention for having canal knowledge with a suspect.
Officer No. 54089 PC Venerato Muhumuza (56) , a police officer attached to Kashambya Police Station is accused of having canal knowledge with Caroline Kyatuheire (28) a resident of Nyarubisi cell, Kashambya Sub-county in Rukiga district.
Kigezi regional police spokesperson Elly Maate says that It’s alleged that Caroline Kyatuhaire was charged with simple Robbery of money worth one million and a mobile phone and detained in Kashambya for investigations on the 17th of January 2022.
The Police Officer who was on duty one no. 54089 Muhumuza Venerato is alleged to have taken advantage, convinced the victim, took her to his place, and allegedly had carnal knowledge.
Maate says that this was immediately established by the in-charge CID one D/C Ampeire Asaph who thought the suspect had escaped from lawful custody. Only to realize that the victim was in the house of the same.
The supervisor reportedly informed central police station Rukiga and a team led by the district Cid officer responded and found both the victim and the suspect locked in the house hence, was arrested and charged accordingly.
He says that investigations into the matter are underway.
