Authorities in Rwanda have dismissed  Asterie Mushimiyimana a midwife attached to Gakoma district hospital for refusing to be vaccinated.

The nurse in question is said to have refused to get vaccinated despite the issuance of the 10-day ultimatum by the government for all the civil servants to have been vaccinated.

A dismissal letter from the ministry of health signed by Dr.Tharcisse Mpunga the minister of state in charge of primary health care dated 17th of January 2022 indicates that the midwife in question deliberately refused to vaccinate despite the fact that the country’s cabinet had recommended that all civil servants embrace vaccination in a bid to check the spread of COVID-19.

The dismissal from public service takes immediate effect.
