Multiplex Construction Company limited on spot over delayed completion of road works in Kabale district.

The company was awarded a contract in May last year with a tune of21.72 billion Shillings roads for are 0.76 kilometers Bwankosa road that connects Nyerere Avenue and Kabale shopping center is commonly known as Ki-college, 0.34KM Bushekwire road that connects Kabale shopping center to Kabale main road in Central division and 2.49KM road that connects the Kabale Diocesan Headquarters to Katuna-Kabale-Mbarara High way.

During the inspection and meeting held on Thursday at white horse inn, Kabale the Kabale municipality municipal development forum Rev Fr Balitazari Ndyomugabe said that the project has taken a long time because they have not started Bushekwire road, Bwakosya road, and works on Rushoroza road are not convincing.

Municipality Emmanuel Byamugisha Sentaro says that they are tired and unhappy with the slow progress of Rushoroza road by multiplex limited. Byamugisha said that he has been coming to the site and nobody was found, machines redundant but when they hear that officials from Kampala are coming it’s when they get busy at the site.

Vicent Byendaimira director of physical planning of urban development representing the permanent secretary said that the works are slow at 7% instead of 90%. He said that in the meeting they have realized that the contractor is understaffed, limited equipment and therefore they have agreed to improve staff and continue work to be completed in the required time.

However, the Multiplex construction limited project manager Giorgio Zenegaglia said that the slow progress of the works is a result of changes in design caused by the consultant Mbj technologies ltd in association with Hersum consult ltd.

In his response, Eng Jjembe Edger Tefiro Mbj Technologies limited, said that changing design is his role according to how works are being done therefore it shouldn’t be the cause of slow works by the contractor.
