Prof. Tumusiime Mutebire has been a great icon for us as Kabale District, Kigezi Sub-region, and national pride.
As a young man growing up with the passion and zeal to take part in the development of my community, I got to know that Prof. Mutebire was not just the Governor of the Central Bank, but was also a man who had a big heart and great passion for the well being of others.
The sons and daughters of Kigezi will remember Governor Mutebire for the selfless efforts he always invested in, to build a strong community of the Banyakigezi here and abroad. Mutebire has been a kingmaker of some sorts, having made most of the great names you hear today from the Kigezi Sub-region.
As young people, of course, we have grown looking up to him, making efforts to learn from his ways, intellectual excellence, and rich experience given the years he has served this nation. He was a true definition of a patriotic senior citizen who really served his nation with diligence and passion.
The country has lost a great man of not only great academic prowess but also wisdom and I know that we can’t easily have him replaced.
We shall dearly miss you Prof. May your soul rest in eternal peace.
