Security issues guidelines ahead of Mutebile’s burial

Security agencies in Kabale district have issued guidelines to follow during the sendoff of Prof. Emmanuel Tumusiime Mutebire, the Governor of the Bank of Uganda.

IP? Elly Maate, the Kigezi regional police spokesperson, while speaking to the press, said that now that his burial arrangements are underway, which will bring in many dignitaries of different caliber, security agencies have issued guidelines to ensure the safety and peace of mourners.

Maate asked the public including those that will be in church service and at burial ground at home to exhibit a high level of discipline and keep cooperative with the security personnel to continuously follow instructions as given from time to time for the smooth burial exercise.

He warned the public to stay security-conscious, vigilant enough, and practice neighborhood watch with each other to prevent any intended ill motive of any kind from any wrong person.

He, however, said that the police and other sister security agencies are on high alert to ensure heavy security deployment, both covert and overt, to avert any situation intended to disrupt the exercise.

Prof. Emmanuel Tumusiime Mutebire who passed on last on Sunday during wee hours at Nairobi hospital where he has been admitted since December 31, 2021, after he collapsed due to complications related to diabetes will be laid to rest in his ancestral home in Ruhiita, Northern Division in Kabale Municipality on Sunday this week.
