Kabale police arrests woman for kidnapping stepson

Police in Kabale are holding a 36-year old woman for kidnapping a boy that he picked from Kikungiri Kabale municipality.

A Kitwe cell, Kitwe town council, Ntugamo district police spokesperson has identified the suspect as Slyvia Ahumuza, a resident of Kitwe cell, Kitwe town council.

Ahimbisibwe is also a co-wife to the mother of the victim.

Maate told our reporter that the child was recovered yesterday by a good Samaritan from a banana plantation where it had been dumped. The suspect was arrested yesterday from her hideout in Kyamusoni village, Ruborogota sub-county, Isingiro district, after being tracked by using phone co data.

After arresting the suspect, she led the police to the banana plantation, the place where she dumped the victim at Kashanda 3 cell in Kabimbiri ward in Ntugamo district, where she claimed to have dumped him on January 30th, at around 18 hrs.

After the arrival of the police, it was established that the child was in the custody of Rehema Kemirembe, the owner of the plantation, who picked up the child yesterday at around 10am when he was shivering and moving lonely in the plantation, only dressed in a T-shirt and a pair of trousers.

Inquiries are ongoing to ascertain the motive since she has failed to reveal it and, after which, she will be charged with AGGRAVATED TRAFFICKING.
