PM Nabanja hails former minister Dr.Mateke

The Prime Minister of Uganda Rt Hon Robinah Nabbanja hailed former Minister of State for Regional Affairs Dr. Philemon Mateke for his committed service to the nation for 55 years a thing that has kept him an outstanding figure in Uganda’s historical and present achievements.    

These remarks were made yesterday during the thanksgiving of Dr.Philemon Mateke and his Wife Joy Mateke a function that was held at Nyakabingo Primary School, Chahi Sub-county Kisoro district in a speech read by Minister of Security Maj Gen Jim Muhwezi representing the prime Minister.    

Dr Mateke was thanking God for the 55 years of serving the Government of Uganda and 53 years in Matrimony. Nabbanja described Dr. Mateke as a very instrumental, pro-people, and selfless Man.

 She added that Dr. Mateke served Uganda without being involved in corruption, bribery which made him succeed in his leadership.   On the other hand, Maj. Gen. Jim Katugugu Muhwezi has said that the move by opposition members of parliament to table before parliament a censure motion against him was dead, wind, and meaningless.  

Maj. Gen. Muhwezi strongly hailed NRM MPs especially from western Uganda for declining to sign the motion seeking to censure him out of the security ministry.

  Muhwezi who is also the Rujumbura county member of parliament in Rukungiri district explains that opposition legislators are only fighting him and his ministry so that they gain political sympathy.    

  Dr. Philemon Mateke revealed that it’s by God’s grace for the years he finished serving the Government and the years in marriage thus asking couples to be faithful to one another and put God first in everything.    

Sarah Nyarabashatsi Mateke, the minister of state for Youth who is also the daughter of Dr. Philemon Mateke thanks God for the years of her parents and commended the Government for giving him such an opportunity to serve the people of Uganda.

    Different Ministers, members of Parliament, civil servants, religious leaders among others graced the function.    During the function shillings, 130 million was collected towards the roofing of Nyakabingo Church of Uganda. The church rooting needs shillings 233 million.
