The Rotary Club of Kabale has donated 15 Thermo Coagulator devices to the districts of Kabale, Rubanda, and Rukiga, worth 73 million shillings. Each district received five Thermo Coagulators.

According to the Acting Dean of Medicine at Kabale University, Dr. Godwin Turyasingura, the Thermo Coagulator is a device that destroys abnormal cells on the cervix that, if left alone, would grow into cancer of the cervix.

Speaking at the handover function of the equipment at Whitehorse Inn Kabale that was attended by the respective district LC5 Chairpersons and District Health Officers, the President of the Rotary Club of Kabale, Odo Necodemous Tumwekwase, said that they thought it wise to purchase the equipment with support from Rotary International after finding that cancer of the cervix is spreading globally and in the country.

He said that they have partnered with Kabale University School of Medicine, which has already trained health workers in all the 31 health facilities in the three respective districts.

The LC5 Chairperson of Rubanda District, Steven Ampeire Kasyaba, who represented the LC5 Chairpersons, commended the Rotary Club of Kabale for the donation, saying that they had no such equipment in any of the facilities in the respective districts.
