The Territorial Police of Kiruhura district has registered a double homicide by shooting in Rugaga trading center, Kikatsi sub-county, Kiruhura district.
The Monday incident involved private Dickens Niwamanya and, a male adult aged 27 years old, attached to Special Forces Commando Brigade in Ruhegyere who shot his lover Patience a bar operator in Rugaga trading center.
The soldier reportedly shot his lover thrice in the chest, killing her instantly, and later turned the gun on himself, shooting himself in the head.
The cause of the double homicide has not been ascertained, but the bodies have been taken to Kiruhura Health Center Four for a postmortem.
Rwizi regional police spokesperson Samson Kasasira says that the murder weapon (SMG AK47) has been recovered from the scene of the crime and inquiries into the incident are still ongoing.
