Police officer dies after a suspected poisoning.

Police in Kabale is investigating circumstances under which their own staff died of suspected poison.       The deceased’s identification number is 53108 PC. Habyarimana Peter, 37, is a police officer attached to the Kabale Field Force Unit and a resident of Kabale police barracks in Kabale district.  

 It’s alleged that the deceased had been on pass leave, and he went back to his duty station at the LC5 chairperson’s residence on Thursday, 07/04/2022. Upon reaching his duty station, his colleague, PC Chellengat, on seeing him, looked weak and his face had changed.

 

When asked what the problem was, the deceased could not explain.  Kigezi regional police spokesperson Elly Maate says that at night, The deceased started complaining of stomach pain on the morning of April 8, 2022, and was rushed to Rushoroza hospital where he died at about 21:00hrs.

  On April 9, 2022, the matter was reported to Kabale CPS by Asp Kisembo. Henry, the Field Force Uniit zonal commander and homicide team, swung into action.

The body was taken to Kabale regional referral hospital mortuary for a postmortem, after which it was taken to his home in Kisoro district for burial. Maate adds that investigations into the matter are still on going.
