Link Bus services suspend operations after a fatal accident

Link Bus services have suspended operations following a fatal accident that claimed the lives of 20 people.

The accident involving bus registration number UBA 003S got involved in an accident at Sebitoli, along the Fort Portal-Kyenjojo-Kampala road in Kabarole district, about twelve (12) kilometers from Fort Portal City on Wednesday.

The bus in question was destined for Kampala from Bundibugyo district.

 Dozens of people sustained injuries and are currently being managed in various health centers in and around Fort Portal City and some have been discharged.  

The company has come out to express sympathy revealing that those who escaped unhurt were picked up by rescue buses to Kampala and other destinations, while all customer luggage was also put in a secure place.

The company says that the move is aimed at working with the Uganda Police and other stakeholders to establish the cause of this particular accident for the purpose of mitigating any related future occurrences.

 The management says that they have decided to voluntarily suspend operations on all routes for three days starting from THURSDAY 5TH MAY 2022 to SATURDAY 7TH MAY 2022 to enable them to recall all Drivers to review what happened and also come up with measures to avoid the recurrence of such incidents.

The operations are set to resume on Sunday 8TH May 2022.
