The State Minister of Finance in charge of General Duties, Henry Musasizi, has rallied Rubanda district stakeholders to embrace mindset change as a way to benefit from the Parish Development Model.
The PDM is implemented under seven pillars, namely: Agricultural Value-Chain Development (Production, Storage, Processing, and Marketing), Infrastructure and Economic Services, Financial Inclusion, and Social Services. Others are: Community Mobilization and Mindset Change, Parish-Based Management Information System, and Governance and Administration.
The Rubanda District LC5 Chairperson, Steven Ampeire Kasyaba, who represented the State Minister for general duties in the Finance Ministry, Henry Musasizi, as the chief guest, asked the LC2 two chairpersons and parish chiefs to ensure proper implementation of the program since they are the main implementers of PDM since money will also be disbursed directly to accounts of Parish SACCOs.
This was revealed today during the official launch of the parish development model in Rubanda district, held at the Volcano hotel in Rubanda town council, which was attended by the district technocrats, local leaders, district leaders, and heads of security, among others.
He said that government programs have failed due to the fact that people’s mindsets are centered on that. He said that mindset change is crucial and fundamental if you want to succeed in this world.
Musasizi revealed that this is a government program intended to increase household income.
“It’s this program that is directly at the parish level to benefit poor people whose income is low and are supposed to be in the money economy,” said Musasizi.
Musasizi also called on people to use the Parish Development Model (PDM) program by identifying proper projects that will benefit all the subsistence households.
At the launch, the Rubanda District Production and Marketing officer, who is also the PDM focal person in the district, Benon Kahangyi, said that people at parish level should choose a flagship enterprise that will benefit all subsistence households, like the growing of beans, Irish potatoes, sorghum, maize, and among others, that yields in the respective area, which is among the guidelines for the program.
