The Kabale District Woman Mp, Catherine Atwakiire Ndamira, has donated 5000 kuroiler birds to 26 groups of women in Kabale municipality.

Atwakyire addressed the beneficiaries at Ndorwa Primary School playgrounds, saying that she lobbed the birds from the National Animal Genetic Center after realizing that they are easy to look after while in town, unlike in rural areas.

She promised to continue bringing the birds if the recipients breed them well and earn yields such as eggs and manure, among other things.

Atwakyire thanked President Museveni, who embraced and supported her program of elevating poverty in households by distributing piglets, goats, chickens, and maize.

Atwakyire said that this is a term of development and urged the beneficiaries to use her office and lobe for what they can manage at home.

She added that the birds are going to act as a source of income for the beneficiaries.

The beneficiaries, Christine Byamugisha, Namara Eva, and Joeria Kakoza from Kabale Municipality, applauded the legislature for the donation, especially in this economic hardship.

They added that Catherine has empowered women ever since she joined the parliament.

They further applauded her office and the team for having coordinated well to have birds.

They added that birds are going to solve domestic violence brought about by the failure to produce enough for the family.
