On May 31st, a charged mob in Rubanda District severed the male genitals of a fellow accused of adultery.
The victim has been identified as Tugumisirize Lazio, aged 48, and a resident of Mukirwa cell, Nyamabale Parish, Ikumba Sub-county, Rubanda District.
It’s alleged that on the night of Tuesday, October 31, Tugumisirize Lazio fell in love with one Vanis, a wife to Sunday who is laboring in Kampala.
According to the eyewitness, the in-laws made an alarm at around 9 pm after seeing Lazio conniving with her in their brother’s house.
This attracted the charged mob armed with spears, pangs, and logs, beating him heavily before cutting off his male genitals.
They added that, fearing for her life, she fled to her ancestral home in Kakyamuhoro cell, the neighbouring village.
The chairperson, Mr. Banyenzakyi Leodinus He described Tugumisirize as a senior rapist and a man who has been terrorizing women in the village, and to some extent, he has been buying them alcohol before luring them into matters of sex.
He went on to say that Lazio never made a statement to the police and that he is still adamant that he was attacked by unknown thugs on his way home, not during the adultery.
He adds that this is the first time they have had such an incident in their village and that this should act as a lesson to all the women and men in the village.
He added that it’s absurd that men of integrity are the ones practicing adultery.
He called upon men and husbands to involve themselves in productive activities rather than adultery.
By the time our reporter filed this story, police had not yet reached the scene for a comment.
Tugumisirize is married to one wife with six children and is now admitted at Kabele regional referral hospital.
