Police recover a stolen vehicle in Kanungu.

Police in Kanungu district have recovered a vehicle that was stolen from the owner.

The vehicle in question is a Toyota premio, registration number UAQ 209 U, which was stolen from Charles Kwiringira (550), a resident of Kashojwa cell in Kihihi sub-county in Kanungu District.

It is alleged that the Premio, sliver grey in colour, was robbed from him as he was accessing his residential gate at around 2100/c on the same day (11/06/2022) by unknown people armed with pangas, sticks, and sharp torches, and left him with minor injuries to the left eye and right hand.

It’s also alleged that one of the robbers was dressed in military attire (Updf comfruge).

Immediately, information was passed on to different police units and the same vehicle was intercepted from Bikurungu in Rukungiri District by Nyamirama police and consequently recovered, impounded, and is parked at Nyamirama police station in Kanungu District.

The victim is out of danger and was issued with a PF3 for medical examination.

A team of detectives with the SOCO are heading to Nyamirama police station for crime scene management. No arrests have been made as the robbers fled. Kigezi regional police spokesperson, Elly Maate, confirms the incident.
