Gov’t vehicle knocks boda boda cyclist dead in Kabale.

The Police in Kabale District are hunting for a Kabale district driver who knocked dead a Rwandan National along Kabale – Katuna Road over the weekend.

Elly Maate, the Kigezi Region Police spokesperson confirmed the fatal accident which was reported at Central Police Station involving vehicle registration number UG 2770A Toyota Hilux double carbine white whose driver fled the scene of the accident.

Maate identified the deceased as Habiyambere Emmanuel, a Rwandese national and resident of Gicumbi Byumba District in the Republic of Rwanda, who has been operating bodaboda cycling along Mwanjari – Katuna road within Kabale Municipality.

Maate said that the accident took place on Saturday night and the scene was visited by Police and a postmortem examination was done and the body of the deceased was handed over to the relatives in Uganda for burial.

Maate however said that the vehicle was impounded and is currently parked at Kabale Central Police Station yard pending inspection by the Police Inspector of Vehicles to proceed with investigation and a case was registered under reference number TAR 62/2022.
