The youths in Kisoro have been advised to desist from being lured to join foreign

Forces at any cost if they must avoid perishing for no good cause.

The call was made by the Kisoro resident district commission, Hajji Shafique Ssekandi

after receiving reports that unknown people have started moving in communities

around the democratic republic of Congo convincing the youths to join their forces as

a job opportunity.

Ssekandi who was on Monday speaking to our reporter warned the youths not to join any force

outside the Ugandan territory because they will be sacrificed in the battle fields due

to lack of enough training.

He called upon parents and LC1 Chairmen to block any person from joining foreign

forces once they are tipped of such developments because no financial gains are

Better than their lives.

Ssekandi says that many people are losing their lives in the current Congo war while

Others are being treated in Kisoro district hence joining any force in the country Without enough training is a great risk to one’s life.

He further revealed that Ugandans being illegally recruited to join any force in the

democratic republic of Congo will not affect the Uganda- Congo relationship because

the Ugandan government is not aware of these recruitments. He added that

Ugandans that will be caught in Congo will be handled as individuals not as a country.

The Bunagana town council Mayor, Ndambajje Ismail advised the youths in his town

council to be patriotic to their country and avoid all sorts of luring them to join foreign

forces. He also advised locals to be security conscious as bad elements could have

flocked Uganda due to the Congo war between M23 rebels and the national army.

The Kisoro district woman MP, Hon. Sarah Nyirabashitsi said that she has also been

tipped about the development. She asked parents not to allow any amount of money

to allow their children to join foreign forces.
