Kabale district officials held over PDM funds

Four Kabale district technical officials have been arrested for allegedly misappropriating 289m meant for Parish development Model activities in the district.

They were arrested today afternoon during the meeting that was convened held at Resident district commissioner’s office by the PDM secretariat officials led by Ms. Karisa Jovelyne Deputy National Coordinator.

According to Elly Maate, the Kigezi region police spokesperson, the suspects include the former Kabale district Chief administrative officer Ntimba Edmond, district planner Boaz Kakuru, Production officer Beda Mwebesa and DCDO Namara Christopher.

Maate revealed that in this financial year 2021/2022 Kabale district local Government received 563,561,450 Ugx for Pdm activities and revolving funds worth 289m meant for parish Sacco’s which was not put in proper use hence swindled by the district technical officials between the months of July 2021 and June 2022.

Maate further noted that a general enquiry file (GEF) has been opened at Kabale central police station to investigate the allegations and the outcome will determine the way forward.
