Police in Kabale district on Friday evening arrested Isaac Akandwanaho a notorious robber from Mitooma District who has been terrorizing the people of Kabale and western Uganda.
Akandwanaho (25) a resident of Kamabare village Bitereko sub county ,Mitooma district was arrested after a gun was recovered from the room he was occupying at Bwindi hotel in Kabale.
In the same room,police had discovered his document following a tip off . His arrest follows incidents of armed robberies in the district.
Kigezi regional police spokesperson Elly Maate says that the suspect and others on the 1st of September robbed one Brenda Birungi of her 530000 shillings on gun point.
He adds that the gun Serial Number UG PSO 4000741 10983 with three rounds of live ammunition, Two knives and clothes as well as documents were recovered.
Maate further revealed that police in Mbarara also managed to arrest Akandwanaho’s counterpart Ephraim Matsiko
Maate says that investigations to know the source of the gun they were using are being made.
