Butebo district officials arrested over ghost Gov’t School

Five officials of Butebo District Local Government have been arrested for allegedly operating a ghost government school.

The arrest follows the failure of the authorities to trace a school known as Kanginima secondary school in the area

  North Bukedi region Police spokesperson Immaculate Alaso, identifies the suspects as district planner Jacinta Ikesa, internal auditor Teopista Skis, accountant Charles Wasunure, Josephine Kaanyi district inspector of schools, and Ben Okou Okiria Senior Internal Auditor.

It is alleged that during the financial year 2021/2022 in Butebo district, there was a ghost government-aided secondary school Kanginima Secondary School with an enrolment of 250 students that has allegedly been receiving government grants yet the purported said school doesn’t exist in Butebo District.

The suspects are being held at  Butebo Central Police Station as investigations into the matter continue.
