Kisoro police registered a hit-and-run fatal accident involving a motorcycle Registration number UFE 577L Bajaj Boxer Red and a pedestrian one Gashogo Nyabuyumbu 45 years a refugee Congolese national resident of Nyakabande transit center.
The accident occurred on 01/10/2022 at about 20:00hrs at the gate of Nyakabande Refugee Transit Centre.
Kigezi regional police spokesperson Elly Maate says that the unknown rider of the said motorcycle who is on the run recklessly rode and knocked the victim while she was entering the gate at the said transit camp and she died shortly after reaching Kisoro hospital where she had been rushed.
The rider ran away with the motorcycle but was later recovered parked at the Nyakabande Police post.
Maate adds that the scene was visited and the body is lying in Kisoro hospital mortuary for postmortem as the search for the rider continues.
