Two family members in Rubanda district are on the run following the death of their father.
The two reportedly assaulted their father identified as Dick Ahereza a resident of Rutooga cell in Nyarurambi ward of Rubanda town council on the 8th of October 2022.
The deceased was reportedly assaulted by his children Bright Ahereza alias Boy and Jordan Arinda alias Daphine after he returned home from a drinking joint.
Kigezi regional police spokesperson Elly Maate says that it is alleged that the Deceased has been having long domestic violence issues between his family members, who include the wife Maryscent Tumukwasibwe (47), and the sons.
On the 8th of October reportedly came back home from the bar and found his family members seated in the kitchen and got a pick axe handle ready to hit his sons Arinda Jordan and Ahereza Bright managed to grab the father where Arinda Jordan ran away and the mother leaving the Deceased being beaten by Ahereza Bright and that Jordan came back and joined the brother in beating the deceased.
On the following morning of 09/10/2022 at around 0700/c, The Deceased was found on the way lying unconscious by the by-passers who went and called the wife who also called locals to take him to the health center IV at Muko where he was pronounced dead at around 1800/c.
Maate says that the sons took off after the news of their father’s death was received but says that police had started investigations and is also hunting for the suspects.
