Councillors in Ikumba sub county feud over land

Ikumba sub county Councilors are up in arms faulting their sub county chief Ashemeza Diana and her Cashier Elly Tumwesigye for having failed to lease the Bishayu Land a decision which the council  approved last year.

In July2021, The  council resolved to lease the 6acres Bishayu land which was to be effective in July 2022.

A Total of  500,000shs cash was to be raised from the lease of the land in question and was to be used to renovate the offices of the sub county chairperson.

Currently the sub county offices are are leaking and no renovation has been undertaken.

Sources at the sub county indicate that the land was leased out to one Leah Asiimwe and the former care taker of the land stopped using it to pave way for leasing but to their surprise, it is currently idle and not generating any income for the sub county.

The area local council three chairperson Wensi Bazirake says that the political leadership is however not aware of the whereabouts of the money.

Emanuel Kabira the speaker of Ikumba Sub County says that the money from the leased land has never been accounted for by th esub county chief.

Diana Ashemeza the Ikumba sub county chief however claims that they had to be extra careful with evicting the current occupant of the land due to fear of court battles.

said that the sub county did not have enough evidence to vacate Mr. Semu Rutakundira who is currently using the land.

She claims that they need enough time to study the matter before planning the next course of action and denys having received money for the said land.

Bishayu Land Is located in Kitahurira village, Kashasha parish Ikumba sub county Rubanda District.
