Kigezi college new board vows to revive school’s old glory

The state minister for finance in charge of general duties Henry Musasizi has appealed to Kigezi Butobere board members to serve unconditionally and revive the school to its glory.

Musasizi was friday speaking as the guest of honor during the inauguration of board members Kigezi college Butobere at the function that was held in the school library.

In his address, Min Musasizi told the new board members to work hard and ensure that the future of Kigezi college Butobere is brighter. He noted that it should be a sacrifice towards developing our school.

“we must not be on the side of those who complain about this school, let’s commit ourselves and make sure that we are not the ones who are to blame but promote our school, that’s why today I am here yet it is a working day and am not on leave”, Musasizi said.

Musasizi asked members to champion discipline of the staff members and students if Butobere is to shine again. He said that if discipline among students is put in place the school enrollment will increase and academic performance improves.

The ministry of education appointed the board of Governors of Kigezi college Butobere on 11th August 2022. Moses Ntahobari Turyomurugyendo as the Chairperson, Ninsiima Evelyn Kikafunda, Eng. Baryomunsi Nicholas, Mr. Ampeire Steven Kasyaba, Mr. Emmanuel Bigirwa as Board members.

Parent’s representatives include Byamukama Dicky and MR Tumwijukye Patrick.

Local Government LC V representative is Ms. Asinga Bridget, LC III representative is Mr. Sam Arineitwe, teacher’s representative Mr. Arineitwe Cyprian Kaata and Ms. Bavakure Ruth.

Moses Ntahobali Turyomurugyendo after swearing in as the board member chairperson Kigezi College Butobere promised work on the rehabilitation of the school infrastructure, promote discipline, academic performance, engage the stakeholders and shape the image of the school in social media and in the community.

Elvis Twenda, the chairman Siniya Alumni Forum reechoed the message of working hard to bring the school to its glory.

Kigezi College Butobere opened as the only senior secondary school in Kigezi District for boys in January 1957 and remained so until 1965, when Kigezi High School was upgraded to senior secondary status.

Graham Thomas, the headmaster from 1964 to 1966 initiated the change in the school’s name from Butobere Senior Secondary School to Kigezi College Butobere.
