Onion farmers count loses as rains ravage Ntungamo

Onion farmers in Ntungamo district are counting loses after heavy rains hit the area ravaging gardens.

The rains that hit areas of Rwentobo-Rwahi Town council in Rushenyi county Ntungamo District on Wednesday left a trail of destruction.

The heavy rain triggered floods, strong winds, hailstorm destroyed Houses, gardens of onions, bean and maize and banana plantations among others.

Johnson Timbigamba councilor representing Rwentobo- Rwahi town council revealed that the locals are stuck and need urgent help.

He revealed that the locals in the area mainly depend on growing of onions and they have lost all their investment in farming.

Ntungamo district chairperson Sam Muchunguzi revealed that the locals have lost a lot and revealed that the technical team is compiling a report for possible intervention.
