Masindi Resident District Commissioner, Emmy Ngabirano, has issued a warning to the wetland encroachers to vacate immediately or face arrest.

The warning comes barely months after the presidential directive evicting people from wetlands.

He said, starting next week, the environmental police and sister security agencies will mount operations on wetlands to evict those found conducting activities there.

Ngabirano, who was today addressing stakeholders during the parish development model training on SACCO operationalization at Masindi Council, also asked the locals to champion the protection of the environment through tree planting.

The National Trainer on Parish Development Model, Jackson Katusiime, said the government will provide smart phones to SACCO leaders to enable them to transact SACCO funds digitally.

He, however, said that the government will only fund seven enterprise groups, which among others include poultry, fish farming, piggery, food crops, zero-grazing dairy cows, fruits, and coffee.
