The Rubanda district LC5 chairperson, Steven Ampeire Kasyaba, is prioritizing the fencing of the district headquarters in the next financial year 2023-2024 in order to control the encroachment on the district premises.

Speaking yesterday during the consultative district budget conference for the financial year 2023-2024, held at the Volcano hotel in Rubanda town council, Kasyaba said that they have on several occasions received cases of neighbors of the district headquarters who encroach on the district land while other district officials access the district during the night.

He went on to say that the district will use 70% of the 291 million shillings in Discretionary Development Equalization Grant (DDEG) funds that the government has already promised to give the district in the fiscal year 2023-2024.He added that they also intended to work on other projects like the construction of the district Rukiiko hall, district health offices, Bufundi Health Center, and Muko Health Center IV as it is being elevated to hospital status, among other things.

Speaking during the budget conference, the Rubanda district’s Chief Administrative Officer, Alex Kwizera, tasked the subcounty and town council leaders in the district to identify areas where they can collect local revenue to be used to supplement what the district provides for the development of their areas.
