Seven held over murder in Rukiga

Police in Rukiga have arrested seven suspects who allegedly assaulted a 37 years old Julius Turihabwe a resident of Rushebeya Nyakarambi village Kitojo parish Rwamucucu sub county, and died instantly.

It’s alleged that the deceased has been a prominent thief in the village and on 20/12/2022 at around 1000hrs, one Ignitius realized that his rabbits had been stolen and he suspected Julius now the deceased to have stollen them, he immediately moved up hill at the home of the deceased and found when he was in his home and he searched the house and found when indeed the suspected rabbit’s meat in the saucepans.

Kigezi regional police Spokesperson Elly Maate says that Ignitius tied the deceased and descended with him to their trading center at Rushebeya together with the boiled suspected meat in the saucepan.

When he reached there, the mob untied him, assaulted him seriously and after which at around 14:00hrs, Ignitius escorted him to his house and dumped him there.

Maate adds that when the suspect’s father returned from his usual duties, he was informed of the assault and he went to check on him only to find him dead.

He reported to the area local council three chairperson Eddie Mugisha who also informed Central police station Rukiga and they responded to the scene before arresting the seven suspects whose identities have been withheld by police.
