Police investigate the death of Rukiga man

Police in Rukiga District are investigating circumstances under which a 75-year-old man reportedly died after boozing and smoking without eating in Kamwezi sub-county, Rukiga District.

Elly Maate, the Kigezi Region police spokesperson, identified the deceased as Kidubali Kabuhanda, a resident of Rwenzaza cell, Kasheke parish, Kamwezi sub-county, and Rukiga district.

The victim is said to have been in the Rwezaza cell for over ten years, and that he recently developed a strange sickness that caused him to swell his legs as a result of excessive drinking.

ASP Maate told journalists that on Sunday, December 25, 2022, at around 9:30 a.m., area chairperson Fausta Kibarigesha was informed that the victim was found lying in the bush near his home while in critical condition.

Maate revealed that the deceased was given food and gained consciousness, and on 12/26 he continued boozing and smoking without eating.

He was pronounced dead in his small house, where he had been staying alone, on December 27, 2022, around 05:30 p.m.
