Six people have been confirmed dead in an accident that involved two buses in Rukiga district along the Kabale-Mbarara Highway.

The two buses collided in the wee hours of today at a time when the fog had covered the area, making it difficult for the drivers to see what was ahead, thus colliding at Muhanga trading center.

According to Elly Maate, a Kigezi regional police spokesperson, the accident involved bus registration number 798B of Volcano RAD CO from Rwanda and another Kenyan bus registration number KCU 054L of Oxygen Company.

Maate adds that the victims were evacuated to Rotom Health Center in Muhanga town council by both police patrol cars and ambulances under the supervision of police leadership in Rukiga.

He says that the preliminary investigations indicate that too much fog was responsible for the collision.
