The archbishop of the church of Uganda His Grace Stephen Kazimba Mugalu has called for unity and love among Ugandans.

The archbishop was on Tuesday preaching during his visit to St. James Church of Uganda in Lalogi Sub-county in Omoro District as part of his pastoral visit to the Diocese of Northern Uganda.

Kazimba revealed that he was welcomed with love in the Diocese and urged Christians to change their attitude and desist from cheap popularity but rather focus on heavenly recognition by working hard and doing good.

Speaking at the same function, Douglas Peter Okello the Omoro district chairperson commended the archbishop for accepting to visit  Lalogi-Odek Archdeaconry.

Okello further revealed that the area is still recovering from the effects of the Lord’s Resistance Army war and applauded the church for playing a vital role in supporting development through education and other interventions.

He cited the support offered to Dream Center medical facility and the establishment of the Child Development Centers (CDC) which had restored hope to the hopeless.

Omoro Resident District Commissioner Andrew Onyuk revealed that the Archbishop’s visit was timely and asked the clergy to continue praying for the people of Northern Uganda to desist from selling land and instead use it to solve problems.

He said that there was vast land; virgin and fertile but people were stricken by laziness and poverty which needed God’s intervention.

Catherine Lamwaka the area woman member of parliament revealed that the district was still grappling with the adverse impacts of the post-war era and COVID-19 pandemic which had left families in poverty.

She said that rate of early marriages and child motherhood was very high and needed urgent intervention. The legislator revealed that her skilling foundation registers over 200 child mothers in a single day during registration of the new intake.
