Kabale police investigate death by suspected drowning

Police in Kabale have registered a suspected drowning incident involving a 39-year-old man, Moses Twasiime, a resident of Rwambeho village in Maziba sub-county of Kabale district, whose body was seen floating on water in the Rwabakazi stream.

Information was received this morning at around 8:30 hrs. from the area chairperson, William Tumuramye, of Kigongi “A” cell, Kigongi ward, Central division, Kabale municipality, that there was a dead body of an unidentified adult male floating at River Rwabakazi, at the bridge after Katuna road junction.

Kigezi regional police Spokesperson Elly Maate says that a report of suspected drowning was made, and the scene was visited by
Kabale homicide team and processed.

The body was retrieved from the river, searched, and found with documents that include his National Identity Card, identifying him as Twasiime Moses of the above address.

He further revealed that the body was taken to the Kabale Regional Referral Hospital Mortuary for a postmortem as inquiries continue to discover the cause of drowning.

Maate also asked locals who might know the deceased to visit the mortuary and take the deceased for a decent burial.
