A total of 116 candidates in Rubanda East who passed in Division 1 in the recently released primary leaving examinations have received mattresses ahead of the start of the first term.

The mattresses were donated by the Rubanda East Member of Parliament, Hon. Henry Musasizi, who doubles as the State Minister for Finance in charge of general duties.

Speaking at Hamurwa sub county headquarters while delivering mattresses, the Hon Musasizi Obed Mutatina, the Secretary for Health and Education in the Rubanda district, revealed that the beneficiaries are the learners who passed in Division 1 in the recent PLE results for 2022.

He said that this is continuous support from the legislator to ensure that learners are motivated to work hard towards the improvement of the education system in Rubanda East.

Hon Musasizi advised learners in lower classes to put more effort into reading books so that they also became beneficiaries in the future.

Hon. Musasizi emphasized the importance of teamwork from parents and teachers to promote and provide necessities to their children if they are to succeed and get good results.

Speaking on behalf of the parents, Rev. Gilbert Tumwekwase, the Parish Priest of Nyamiyanga Church of Uganda, commended Hon Musasizi for supporting parents and learners in these days when they were facing economic hardships. He said this will motivate other learners to put much focus into books so that they excel in academics and become beneficiaries.

Rev. Tumwekwase warned learners against indiscipline, which is on the rise in schools.

63 candidates in Greater Hamurwa passed in Grade 1, 48 candidates from Greater Bubare, and 5 candidates from Nyamweru sub county, totaling 116 in the whole of Rubanda East.
